For some reason, it seems that kmkernel is still set to 0 when called from MiscPageFolderTab::MiscPageFolderTab, thus causing the crash. I'm reassigning from Kontact to Kmail as it seems to make more sense (please reassign it back to Kontact if it doesn't). *** Bug 230128 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Created attachment 42938 [details]

Kontact crashes when trying to access preferences. It is probably due to me having unselected kmail as one of the kontact components

Kontakt crashed when a open Preferenses

kontact did not crash after i deselected everythin but time keeper and one other item. restarted my machine after bug updates- kontact came back up and i was able to goto preferenses tab. kontact crashed after i modified my themes- windows themes color themes style themes splash screens desktop etc. restarted and went to preferenses tab click it and it crashed.
*** Bug 247953 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 248107 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I found a hint at <http://www.ubuntu-forum.de/artikel/51570/kontact-st%C3%BCrzt-ab-wenn-kontact-einreichten.html> Seems that disabling the E-mail module causes a crash. If the module is set to false in <kontaktrc> . . kontact_kaddressbookpluginEnabled=true kontact_kmailpluginEnabled=false kontact_knotespluginEnabled=true . . it will crash The settings window opens normally with the mail preferences as default. It looks like disabling it sends some kind of pointer or such into the dark. Created attachment 51084 [details]
