Description Brendon Higgins 2009-09-11 06:40:14 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

Most editing programs and widgets indicate whether editing is being performed in insert or overwrite mode. Usually, a line-shaped text cursor indicates insert mode, and a box-shaped cursor indicates overwrite mode. But the KMail Composer only ever has a line-shaped cursor. (Some programs also have an indication in the status bar, but KMail does not have that, either.)

A number of times I've gone to add words in the middle of an email and after typing out a sentence realise that I've accidentally hit the "Insert" key and overwritten a bunch of text. It just occurred to me why I never seem to notice before I start typing: because KMail won't tell me what editing mode I'm in like other programs will.

Agreed. But it's a wish, not a bug.
