Description Janet 2009-07-04 19:39:33 UTC
Version: KDE 4.3 RC 1 (using Devel)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

I open dolphin in two pane mode and want to copy a folder from one directory to another by drag'n'drop. The other directory already contains a folder with that name. I now expect dolphin to ask me if I want to rename the folder I want to copy (as it does when I copy a file) or to overwrite the other one i.e. adding the content of the copyied folder to the original one.

But instead dolphin starts adding the content to the other folder without asking. It only asks if the *content* should be overwritten or renamed. But before worrying about the content it should worry about the folder itself. I ended up with a folder with mixed content of KDE 3 and 4 configurations where I had to sort out everything manually.

At first I thought it was because I hadn't the right to write to the directory, but it is independent from that, it never asks but starts merging instantly!

Did you do a "rename" before starting the copy action?

This seems to be fixed since RC2, dolphin now offers to rename the folder.

You're right. I close this.
