Hi,
- open a file with kate, 
- change something,
- save and close it,
- quit kate,
- start kate again,
- go in menu to "Datei" -> "Zuletzt geöffnete Datei (sorry I do not know the english term here) --> There is no entry
I would expect that my last opened file is here listed
