Most likely bug 175540. What happens if you try to install something via apt-get install? After looking this up on the internet too, I noticed that I also I had a problem with the repository http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-members-kde4/ubuntu. I modified my sources.list manually and it works again. I guess a more meaningful message in this case would help the user understand what's wrong here.
