Description nico 2009-01-08 21:57:17 UTC
Version: 4.1.87 (using Devel)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

access keys just activate / deactivate themselves randomly. There are similiar bug reports for 3.5 but not for 4.x .

besides, turning of access keys via "settings->configure konqueror->web browsing-> enable /disable access key ..." doesn't work (settings are just not safed after unchecking checkbox and hitting "apply" or "ok")
It actually works on a freshly installed kde, or after removing ~/.kde und the like.

Please fix quick, I already smashed a keyboard due to this sh** :)

This has yet to happen to me with 4.1.96 (KDE 4.2 RC1). It did make me give up Konqueror in 4.1.87 all together. It would be fixed, or perhaps it needs to be triggered by something I haven't done yet. There is a small change that this bug can be closed as worksforsomeone eventually (if 2 more can confirm it no longer happens)

The problem is still there in KDE 4.3 beta 1 for me.
To reproduce, just turn access keys on via "settings->configure konqueror->web
browsing-> enable /disable access key ...".
Then, when you press Ctrl it will show the access keys, even if you disable the access keys in the config dialog and even if you restart konqueror.

Cannot reproduce. Note that I did have to restart konqueror for the settings change to take effect. However after restarting konqueror access keys did not appear. Also I had no random activations of the access keys.

Today, after trying again. After restarting konqueror, access keys did not appear (I think there was a konqueror instance that I did not saw last time).

I also do not have random activations of the access keys.

Therefore, the only thing lasting is to say that a konqueror restart is needed, or the ability to change them without restart.

Requring the restart is still an issue in the latest version of khtml from KDE 4.8 git. Assigning to the appropriate component.

Updating the version field to 4.8.0 as of comment #5. Please check if the issue is still valid for Konqueror 4.8.4 or later.

Dear user,

KHTML (and KJS) was a long time more or less unmaintained and got removed in KF6.

Please migrate to use a QWebEngine based HTML component.

We will do no further fixes or improvements to the KF5 branches of these components beside important security fixes.

For security issues, please see:

https://kde.org/info/security/

Sorry that we did not fix this issue during the life-time of KHTML.

Greetings
Christoph Cullmann
