Version: (using KDE 4.1.3)
Compiler: opensuse 11.1
OS: Linux
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

Hello,

I installed openSUSE 11.1 on a Samsung netbook NC10.
The KDE version is 4.1.3.
The webcam works fine with cheese but I cannot use it with kopete or digikam. It is not possible to add rsp. to map the camera to the application.

dmesg shows:
uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device Namuga 1.3M Webcam (0ac8:c326)
input: Namuga 1.3M Webcam as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb1/1-8/1-8:1.0/input/input9

Is it possible to add a camera manually to the list? What is the file the cameras are listed in?
Thanks.

W. Hermanns

There is no Camera drivers in digiKam. We use Gphoto2 library for that.

I think digikam is the wrong application for this. You use digikam to manage pictures, and the camera interface to download pictures from the storage of the camera.
Your webcam provides you with a video stream that you can use for instant messaging, or if you really want you can record it with appropriate applications or store single frames from the stream. Say you have taken such a series of images in a JPG format, then you can start using digikam to manage them (but you usually dont use your webcam to take photos anyway.

In short: digikam does not handle video devices.

You should in theory be able to use your webcam for video chatting with kopete, why this does not work or if it should work with current versions of kopete I dont know.
