Description Elgar Pichler 2008-11-16 00:20:52 UTC
Version: 4.1.2 (using KDE 4.1.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

System:
-------
Fedora 9

Used RPM:
---------
kdebase-runtime-4.1.2-5.fc9.i386

Observed behavior:
------------------
Calling kdesu via any System Settings that require root privileges, e.g.,
  System Settings->Advanced->Login Manager
triggers
  /usr/libexec/kde4/kdesu -i preferences-system-network-share-windows \
    "-c /usr/bin/kcmshell4 kcmsambaconf --lang en_US"
which results in an
  Incorrect password, please try again.
error, although the correct password was entered in the kdesu prompt.
The same call to kdesu issued from a konsole works.

Similar bugs:
-------------
Bugs 135645, 78948, 25430, 154355, 154188 describe similar problems. All
of those are listed as resolved though. So I'm opening a new ticket - it
seems the bug isn't dead after all or it has reappeared in newer KDE
versions.

Thanks for investigating. Cheers,
e2.

The kdesu usage in systemsettings is the result of a Fedora-specific patch to it, so please report the problem to Fedora.
