Description René Krell 2008-10-21 14:25:55 UTC
Version: 1.10.1 (using 4.1.2 (KDE 4.1.2) "release 45.1", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.0)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.25.16-0.1-default

I cannot imagine that the following behavior is wanted (that for I mark this a bug):
Dragging&dropping an attachment from a KDE file browser as Krusader into the composer, where I want to attach it, pops up a windows "Name of the attachment" with an edit field. In comparison, attaching a file by clicking on the Attach toolbar button directly attaches it and generates an automatic name for the attachment.
I guess Drag&Drop should work equally here and generate the name (which can be changed after attaching, if one needs to change it).

In kmail 1.10.90 (kde 4.1.70) and krusader 2.0 beta1, the drags&drops from krusader to kmail composer get the name of the file automatically.

Works for me too in kmail 1.10.1. When I drag and drop a file from dolphin, I get a popup menu with two options, "add as text" and "add as attachment". Clicking "add as attachment" gets the attachment name from the filename.

Ok, you are right with Dolphin. From Dolphin, I get the "Add as text" and "Add as attachment" now, too. Maybe a mistake.
The problem appears still on dragging and dropping a file from Krusader (2.0 Beta2 - SVN). Is this to report to the Krusader team?
Comment 4 George Kiagiadakis 2008-10-29 13:41:20 UTC
Yes, I am reassigning this to krusader. Probably the initialization of the drag is not done correctly.
Comment 5 René Krell 2009-01-26 15:54:45 UTC
Update: The bug ist still present in KDE 4.1.96 (4.2 RC1).
Comment 6 Lukáš Karas 2009-12-05 18:02:34 UTC
This bug is solved in newest Krusader (svn revision 1059041, Krusader: 2.1.0-beta1 "Second Gear"). Please, mark this bug as solved.
