Description Daniel Richard G. 2008-10-12 06:15:22 UTC
Version: 1.7.1 (using Devel)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

When kdesvn-build 1.7 came out, the sample kdesvn-buildrc went from building the 4.2 branch of phonon, to building the trunk version (as part of kdesupport).

Problem is, the trunk version of phonon is currently broken---see bug 172430. It appears to have been broken for some time, and the maintainer has yet to show any interest in the bug.

I think the default should change back to building the 4.2 branch, until the above bug is resolved. Everything else still works with 4.2.

Nothing about default phonon builds seems to make any sense. Qt 4.5 will come with Phonon 4.3 (or 4.3.1?) and apparently that will be the "official" version of phonon to use. At that point we'll reevaluate but I'm not even going to try to keep up with what version of Phonon is working in the kdesvn-buildrc-sample until the "official" phonon to use changes.
