Description Thorsteinn A. Malmjursson 2008-09-13 03:18:02 UTC
Version: 3.5.9 (using KDE 3.5.9)
Compiler: No compiler installed
OS: Linux
Installed from: Mandriva RPMs

I have a preview facility on kdesktop where if I touch any audio file with my mouse pointer, it will play out and allow me to hear the file.

But this does not work until I open a konsole, type killall kdesktop, wait for kdesktop to die and then restart it.

The preview then works normally with all wav, mp3, ogg and flac files present.

I cannot provide backtraces, since this application has not actually crashed, but to reproduce should be fairly easy. Simply open kde as your desktop, add an audio file and touch it with your mouse pointer.

You should hear nothing. Open Konsole, and at the $ prompt, type killall kdesktop.

Press Enter and wait a few seconds, then just type kdesktop and hit enter.

Close konsole, and then touch a music file on your desktop. You should now hear a full playout of the file.

Kdesktop is no more mantained. Fortunatly this bug seems not to be valid for
KDE 4. Please reopen if this bug is not a kdesktop one (and it is not solved)
or it can be reproduced on KDE 4.

Thanks.
