When using a vertical plasma panel, the contents (text/icon) of the taskbar buttons are not vertically centralized in the button (contents are nearer to the bottom than to the top of the button). When there are only a few buttons (see first screenshot) this do not cause any problems, as the button is big enough to display the contents. However, if there are many buttons, their contents extrapolate the area of the button at the bottom, invading the next button (see second screenshot).

In this case, the contents of the buttons go beyond the bottom of the buttons,
invading the next one.

This bug is still present in KDE 4.1.2

This bug is still present in KDE 4.1.3. Indeed, I'm under the impression that it's a bit worse now, it seems the contents of taskbar buttons are a little closer to the bottom of the buttons than before, so they go beyond the button area with less buttons in the taskbar. Not sure, however.

SVN commit 908994 by mart:

A bit more space between the arrow and the group count and better center
vertically the arrow+number
Move down the text of the uppercase-lowercase height difference, this
makes vertically centerd uppercase characters instead of lowercase ones
and while it's kinda less centered, it -looks- more centered
will backport to 4.2
