Description Christian Nitschkowski 2008-07-18 17:02:12 UTC
Version: Unbekannt (using 4.00.98 (KDE 4.0.98 (4.1 RC1)) "release 7.1", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.0)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.25.5-1.1-default

When dragging an attachment from a mail in KMail to some drop-target (tested with KMail Compose window, Dolphin) the resulting file will be 0 bytes in size.
The source file can't be opened or saved after that until the message with the attachment is closed and opened again.
Opening or saving attachments without using drag and drop works fine, though.

Confirmed.
Happens when dragging an attachment out of the messageviewer in an IMAP folder where loading on demand is enabled.
Comment 2 Thomas McGuire 2008-07-18 18:14:59 UTC
Workaround: Use "save as", which seems to work correctly.
Comment 3 Martin Fitzpatrick 2009-04-04 16:49:14 UTC
Confirmed bug still present on 4.2.2 (Kubuntu).
Comment 4 Björn Ruberg 2010-01-28 00:21:31 UTC
Works for me in KDE 4.3
Comment 5 Eckhart Wörner 2010-04-25 19:10:56 UTC
Reopen; http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=494585 suggests this bug still exists with KMail from SC 4.4.2
Comment 6 Christophe Marin 2010-06-07 18:09:41 UTC
I wonder if bug 240489 could explain this report (no write permission on dragged attachments)
Comment 7 Axel Schmidt 2011-09-05 15:14:21 UTC
Bug still present on 4.5.5 (Kubuntu) when dragging an attachment from a mail in KMail to KMail Compose window the resulting file will be 0 bytes in size.
Comment 8 Christophe Marin 2011-09-05 15:38:47 UTC
Works as expected with kdepim master.
