Yup, that would be great. Certain plasmoids which would be usefull on a dashboard (example: calculator, kalgebra) only clutter the desktop and look plain ugly. This seems like natural and logical behavior for the dashboard. Kde4 widgets perform different functions to those on OSX, so I understand why they are presently always visible. However, this option is desperately needed; without it certain widgets are just pointless at the moment (eg. calculator, and other tools/toys you don't want cluttering up your desktop constantly) in 4.1 you can set the containment to view in the dashboard. in 4.2 we'll probably have a gui for it. in plasmarc, put a DashboardContainment= entry set to the target containment's id (it's in plasma-appletsrc) in the correct View's config (e.g. [PlasmaViews][1]) as for the two commenters saying certain widgets are pointless, ugly, etc.. you seem to be missing the "to me" in your comments. i'm sure that they are useless/ugly to you, but they are useful and pretty to others. it's really hard to take you seriously when you write such things. Aaron J. Seigo: I don't understand what I need to... Could you send me an example of plasmarc with DashboardContainment=? Thanks @ Aaron J. Sergio. My apologies, it seems I didn't use the best choice of words. I simply meant that the option would in my opinion make many more widgets useful to me, and probably others. In any case, thankyou for pointing out the configuration option. I just realised I misspelled your name. Sorry about that. And congratulations on kde4.1 Thankyou for all the hard work. |
