Description jarlgjessing 2008-07-09 13:16:02 UTC
Version:           1.9.52 (using 4.00.85 (KDE 4.0.85 (KDE 4.1 >= 20080703) "release 3.3", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.0)
Compiler:          gcc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.25.9-0.2-pae

If I click on the systray icon of kontact (kmail) to minimize it, it is successfully minimized.
But if I click on it to restore it again, it is displayed in the taskbar but not on the desktop.
If I then click on the icon on the taskbar it is displayed.
If I click on ALT+F4 it is minimized to the systray (as wanted) and now, if I click on the systray icon it is successfully restored...
I have disabled composite in X11 settings so I'm not running any desktop effects.

Thanks in advance!

I can't reproduce this, maybe that is because I'm running a KDE 3.5 desktop.

For systray related woes, see also bug 166126 and bug 74938 and bug 75446.

It is a bit difficult for me to see if the other bugreports relates to this one. But the problem is not existing for me in the 3.5.x version (I also have 3.5.9 installed)
The problem is on KDE4.0.85 only.
In fact the thing of a single notification icon was a good idea. I'm really irritated of having akregator, korganizer and kmail. It there not be a single icon counting everything, and if i.e. middleclicked it pops up the list of modules with new items. Then you click on the one you want to activate, kontact opens and displays the selected module.
Like the device monitor :-)

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kontact (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
