Version: (using KDE 4.0.83)
OS: Linux

In current KDE SVN there is no "Create New" option in the Desktop context menu. Please reinstate this very useful option. Thanks.

What should be used for? What do you need to create?

thanks a lot for your answer :-)

I personally only use it for new folders and text files, but I know that the wife uses it for creating new Open Office Writer files at least. I will ask her if there are other file types that she uses it for, and I will ask my other users if they use the "Create New" option as well (I have several people that I installed Kubuntu for).

This bug is not valid because the "desktop" doesn't contains files anymore. You've to use the "folderview" widget which allow you to create new files, like you were used to do :-)

The Desktop no longer contains files? Then there should most certainly _not_ be a Desktop folder in ~/. Also, either the user should be made aware of this fundamental change, or the "folderview" widget should be installed by default.
Comment 5 FiNeX 2008-06-28 18:47:32 UTC
Don't worry: the folder view is enabled by default to the ~/Desktop path :-)

Just to be sure: The "Create New" option is enabled in the folderview widget? My distro currently does not have folderview packaged so I cannot check easily.

Yes, I've just tried :-)
