Description Bartemius Crouch 2008-06-15 00:52:42 UTC
Version: 1.9.9 (using 3.5.9, Kubuntu (hardy) 4:3.5.9-0ubuntu7.1)
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.24-19-generic

Well, I've been using Kontact/KMail since Ubuntu 6.06 and it has worked fine so far. However since today the disconnected IMAP does not work anymore. No email are being fetched anymore. I deleted all config files, recreated new accounts.... in the account setup it even finds correct server settings.... but in the main view I press the check mail button and just about a second later I get the message returned that no new mail has arrived, however nothing was really checked, I have a couple of email accounts like that and none works.

For testing reasons I did setup imap on thunderbird and there it works all fine.

The only thing I have chaned is switching from 2.6.24-16-generic to 2.6.24-19-generic kernel (Kubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron)

Things don't stop working from one day to another without a reason. Perhaps you installed updates distributed by your distribution? And do you see any error messages? The report leaves some bits to our imagination sofar, unfortunately.

No error message at all... the only thing that was updated was the kernel within the distro. Even running kontact from the cli does not give any clue at all...

Did the problem eventually go away? It seems you are the only one who is having it so I'd be interested if it is/was really a bug in KMail or closely related to your system.

Maybe the IMAP server was updated with some incompatible software? We don't know as the reporter did not answer
