Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

UI change: with unlocked widget allow move them by simply dragging them

It would be _way_ easier than using widget toolbox which is tiny and fragile. What's more -- it would be more intuitive.

Disadvantage: you could not use widget in unlocked mode (not for me, because I see unlocked mode as configuring mode, not usage mode).

Secondary wish: if the above will be rejected.

Please provide equal border for toolbox at all sides. Note, the border is 2-3 pixels wide and it is ordeal to grab it.

The secondary wish is valid but not in this context, the idea of grabbing the border to move is UI bug, not a feature. But of course equal border would be useful.

I don't agree: how can it be decided if the click into the widget is for moving or for interact with it (think to the folderview applet).
Comment 4 Maciej Pilichowski 2008-06-14 18:43:18 UTC
True, that is the problem -- it is either this or that.

But since you can interact fully in locked mode, it would be good to give something for configuring in unlocked mode.

Without moving is very hard task (not mentioning rotating or other tasks from toolbox).

Again, in general, unlocked mode should be seen as configuring mode.

With move by dragging widget you could drop the move widget, more space for other.

unlocked mode is not "configuration mode". rather, locked is for people who don't like to be able to easily interact with these things (valid use case) and for corporate/school/public kiosk environments.

without making unlocked mode completely useless we can't actually make "drag anywhere" work for all applets.

and since we don't want to force people to choose between locked/unlocked to do things, this isn't a plausible change to make.
