Something that was really useful in KDE3 was the estimation of the time remaining until the battery runs out.

I think it should be added to the battery widget, but I'm not sure where exactly it should go because it doesn't look like there's enough space inside the actual widget. Maybe in an extender like the calendar on the clock widget?

It would also be nice to see how long it would take to fully charge the battery when it's plugged in and not fully charged.

I agree and maybe an option to always show that time in the widget! I think the code from klaptop_check for calculating the remaining time can be reused.

The remaining time is provided by HAL, see the source of guidance-power-manager.

Remaining time is now displayed in the battery popup when AC is unplugged and something sensible (i.e. not 0) is indicated. Otherwise, you see the percentage.

4.2.0 material.

This doesn't seem to be fixed in KDE 4.2.2. I always only see the percentage in the battery widget.
