When I delete a tag that is set for a photo from the taglist in the right sidebar, this tag is of course removed from the digikam database and from digikams database. 

However it still remains in the photos IPTC data if storing tags into IPTC keywords in the file is configured. This is even true after I resync the database contents to the photo file 

If I remove a tag in digikam and then resync digikams database to this photo I would expect that the IPTC keyword gets deleted as well. This works if I simply unselect a tag and then resync.
