Version:            (using KDE 3.5.9)

When I connect to internet through huawei e220, network device is presented as modem0. But when I start kontact it ask me if I want to stay in offline mode and when I click to online mode it doesn't download new mails and feeds. This bug occurs in version 1.2.9 presented in kde 3.5.9.

This is likely a suse problem, they have custom patches which mess with the online/offline status. Report that bug to them.
