Description S. Burmeister 2008-01-03 11:45:48 UTC
Version: (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux

I have to start opensuseupdater-kde on every kde start. So I open krunner and type open, then use the cursor to pick the entry from the auto-complete pop-up hit RETURN and RETURN again.

After that 90% of the times there is a lag of ~15 seconds where krunner is stalled, does not use any CPU and does not start the application either.

Although others have confirmed lags in krunner I cannot tell how to reproduce exactly.

Does this maybe depend on strigi running or not. I do not mean strigidaemoin taking CPU!

i can't reproduce this particular issue at all. does it happen with apps other than opensuseupdater-kde? perhaps you could break into the krunner process with gdb when it hangs like this and generate a backtrace so we can see where it is hanging

I have this lag too. Aaron suggested me to remove plasma-runner-search.desktop file from $PREFIX/share/kde4/services/. After that I've run kbuildsyscoca4 and logged out and back in and so far I don't see any lag anymore.

ok, so this was certainly the search runner which is disabled and set to be rewritten.
