I don't know if the responsible for this bug is KDE itself or Ubuntu,
but since it happens only in KDE I feel I should report it.

The bug occurs when one launches Synaptic Package Manager from KDE.
A dialog box appears requesting the su password, but the (correct) password
is not accepted.

if it is a kde problem, then a kdesu one.

This is a duplicate of bug #154355 . If you can provide the info requested there (in comment #8), that would be very welcome.
