Description Maciej Pilichowski 2007-12-19 11:11:11 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.8)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

You can configure MMB click on the tab, but it is ignored -- in order to make it work you have to restart computer.
Comment 1 Maciej Pilichowski 2007-12-19 20:56:11 UTC
PS. I restarted computer and the settings are still ignored, MMB tries to paste clipboard entry as URL in active tab.
Comment 2 Rui G. 2008-06-04 23:53:20 UTC
I don't think you can configure the MMB click on the tab through "konqueror configuration" . In web behavior, the MMB setting only works in the browser area.

However could you try this command, and see if it works for you?

kwriteconfig --file konquerorrc --group "FMSettings" --key MouseMiddleClickClosesTab --type bool true

This closes the tab on mmb. Other hidden configurations are in
http://wiki.kde.org/tiki-index.php?page=Hidden%20configuration

I don't think this will be fixed, if it's a bug. In konq4 you have an option to close tabs with MMB, but I'm not sure that's what you want.

If you have more information, open the bug again please.
Comment 4 Maciej Pilichowski 2008-06-05 07:57:38 UTC
Rui, I don't want another feature for MMB and tabs -- I want to turn it off, so if I click MMB on tab nothing will happen.

In Konqueror settings there is an option for MMB but no matter what I choose, there is no difference --> thus, a bug.

And I assure you that in web behaviour MMB in tab works.

Anyway, in general MMB on tab should be configurable in such way, that one option would be "do nothing".
Comment 5 Rui G. 2008-06-05 13:47:23 UTC
Do you mean this option ? Settings->Configure Konqueror->Web Behavior->Mouse Behavior->Middle Click Opens Selection  ?

I can't find an option directly related to the tab anywhere else, and the help I got in #kde was the one in my post about the hidden configuration. That option just relates to the browser area (below the tab).
Comment 6 Maciej Pilichowski 2008-06-05 14:14:21 UTC
Rui, yes this one.

But if this option is related only to web area, then it is a bug in the settings (misleading labeling) + a wish to set this for tab as well.

This option is labeled "M&iddle click opens URL in selection" and works both in filemanager + webbrowser mode, so I don't see a bug.

Then please close this bug as fixed and open a wish for your requested feature.

No it does not. This feature is specific to web browser components. If you middle click on the tab itself, then the setting does not have any effect in either filemanager nor webbrowser mode. And that is exactly why the option is located under "Web Browser" in Konqueror's settings dialog.

Anyhow, the reporter is asking for the ability to prevent MMB clicks on the tab itself (not the view) from opening the URL from the selection clipboard.

As of comment #7 and comment #8 I assume this is working for you as intended. If you still think this issue is valid for Konqueror 4.8.4, please open another report.
