Description Eric Yen 2007-12-18 23:55:44 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.97.0)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
Compiler: Used kubuntu live cd, opensuse live, and compiled kde 4rc2 on top of ubuntu All 3 produced the same "bug"
OS: Linux

When using kde 4.0rc2, either in opensuse live cd, kubuntu live cd or just ubuntu with kde installed on top,
it always creates the same bug.

I'm using a laptop. I have an external monitor hooked up when I'm at home. The problem is that it shows the proper configuration on the laptop screen, but shows the wrong one on my external monitor. My xorg.conf is properly configured. Also, everytime I try to run krandr, it doesn't load. And then when I logout, i get a crash report saying Kwin has crashed and some other program as well.

I'm sort of new at this, so I would need to know where to copy/paste the error ports to/from.

Thank you.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for reporting these issues. Are you able to confirm if this problem is still present in KDE 4.1 beta. A lot of issues with external monitors have been fixed since 3.97.

Since you say you're new to this, I hope you won't mind if I offer you some advice. Your bug report actually lists three bugs - the external monitor problem, the krandr problem and the crashes when logging off. For future reference, it is more convenient for developers if those three problems are filed as 3 separate bug reports - they can then be allocated to the different developers responsible for them.

Hi. This bug has received no feedback for a substantial time, so I am closing this report. If you can reproduce this bug still on a recent version of KDE, please reopen the report.
