Using Kubuntu Gutsy 7.10. I configured KMail to retrieve e-mail from my GMail account using IMAP. Authentication occurs and all of my folders show up in KMail. But when I click on the inbox, one of two things happens:

1. KMail says "Retrieving Folder Contents  Please Wait... " and never finishes.
2. KMail retrieves all headers in the inbox, but when an e-mail is clicked, its contents are never retrieved.

I only have about 30 e-mails in my inbox. Ingo reports that he can successfully retrieve more than 3000 e-mails from his GMail account using KMail. There may be a difference in the volume of e-mails or in compiled versions. But I have tried using KMail under KDE 3.96.2 (compiled from source) and my results are not any better. There is at least one other user on the kdepim mailing list is reporting the same behavior.

Another submitter informed me that I should go into KMail settings for the IMAP account and set the namespace to "inbox". After doing this and restarting KMail, performance for IMAP retrieval is normal.
