Bug 152477

Summary: Proxy makes KDED eat babies

Description apodtele 2007-11-17 18:33:57 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.8)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
Compiler: gcc 4.1.2 as I said this is stock Fedora 8 i386 linux distribution
OS: Linux

.. where baby == CPU.

Steps to reproduce:
1) have proxy enabled in konqueror (it is a must)
2) point konqueror to a large remote FTP directory with 1000 files or more (e.g. Fedora distribution)
3) start top to watch how kded eats babies
4) try to select a few hundred files in the remote directory with mouse or shift-arrows
5) while you're selecting, observe kded baby-feast, as you struggle to select more and more files

When proxy is disabled everything seems to be fast-n-easy.
With proxy, I doubt that you will be able to select more than a thousand files.

Please don't hijack this bug and pretend it is resolved (see bug #113394).
Yes, this bug is very old in fact.

Hello:

It's been a long time since this was reported. Could you please update with a recent version of KDE?

Thanks.
