Description monstermunch 2007-11-17 11:21:24 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.8)

Example with current feature:

* Alice is reading articles in Akregator and finds an article she thinks Bob would be interested it.
* She clicks the article tab, then selects "Article"->"Send Link Address" .
* The generated email contains the article title, which saves her time writing a descriptive subject, but the body of the message just includes the article link.
* So that Bob knows why the link is interesting to him, Alice either writes a short summary (e.g. "I thought you might like this, it's about...") or she copy and pastes some text from the article.

Suggested improvement:
* Alice finds an article she wants to send Bob.
* Alice selects some text on the article page as a summary for Bob e.g. highlights the introduction paragraph.
* When "Send Link Address" is clicked, the email appears with the selected text included. For instance, it could look something like this:

---------------------------------------------------------
Subject: "BBC NEWS - Experts warn of 'abrupt' warming"
Body:

"A UN panel has agreed a landmark report declaring that climate change is "unequivocal" and may bring "abrupt and irreversible" impacts."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7098902.stm.
---------------------------------------------------------

Rationale:
It saves some clicking and will make what is a common use case for me more pleasant. Another idea is that you could allow configuration of KMail style quoting templates to save more time (e.g. Hi, I found this article and thought you might find it interesting: %QUOTE% %LINK% Bye, Alice").

I'm going to submit this wish for Konqueror as well as it applies to both applications.
