Version: 1.9.6 (using KDE 3.5.6, Kubuntu (feisty) 4:3.5.6-0ubuntu14.1)

Hi,

I use KMail with dimap and imap (tried both). I also use Apple Mail via IMAP.

I have about 2.5GB of mails distributed throughout ~ 50 folders on my IMAP account. However, only a few of them have new content when fetching new mails. Apple Mail runs through all folders in about 30 seconds. KMail stalls at big folders (at 25%) although they contain no new messages and do not need to be updated.

For example, a mailing list folder with close to 18'000 messages will stall KMail up to five minutes. But the difference is already quite noticeable with folders that contain only 500 or 1000 messages.

What is KMail doing there and why is it necessary? There has to be a way of speeding this up.

Thanks,

Jens

I don't have anything that extreme on the imap account i have that has 10k or something of email, but there is a delay for no new messages. I suspect further optimizations could be done here. My distributed imap accounts are smaller, and don't seem to delay, but I'd have to set up some stuff to better test that.

using 1.11.90ish svn

Is this still a problem with a recent kmail version?

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this version of Kmail has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Please try using the latest version of Kmail to see if your issue persists. If it does, please submit a new bug in "kmail2". Thank you!
