I don't see a bug here. The application is closed, when you click the close button. As long as it is not critical for the applications function, there is no need to use a modal popup here.

But you realize you will loose data? Filter, settings, mail are all data and saying that it is ok to loose some settings because they are not critical is not really acceptable.

And nobody said anything about modality.

What I'm trying to say is, that there is no bug. If you click on the close button, the application closes, thats the nature of the close button. The only way to prevent that is, to make the filter dialog a modal popup.
If you wan't a change in application behaviour, you can file a wishlist item anyways. Or we set this to a whislist item.

Data loss is always a bug.

Adding confirmation dialog "The filters data are modified. Do you really want to quit? [ quit ] [ cancel ]" would prevent accidental data loss or not?

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
