Description Paul Millar 2007-09-14 16:40:13 UTC
Version: 3.5.7 (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

When starting korg. the korg. reminder daemon is also started. This is my choice as I don't run korg. reminder daemon when logging in.

When korg. reminder daemon starts up, it will check if any events have happened since last running and bring up notification windows for any such events. This, too, is correct behaviour.

However, for each reminder notification window, korg. daemon will sound the system bell. This is a bug as it does not honour the the Audio->System bell setting "use system bell instead of system notification". I have this switched off.

This is important as I may be using a laptop in an environment where I should make no sound. If I run korg., the daemon may sound a number of beeps (depending on number of events since last run) in rapid succession: very bad.

In practice, this means I cannot run korg. when I need the laptop to be quiet as I cannot be sure korg. daemon will not sound the system bell.

I believe this bug has been fixed some time ago (by at least KDE 4.3.2)
