Description raul bagni 2007-09-06 21:30:24 UTC
Version: 1.9.6 (using KDE 3.5.6, Kubuntu (feisty) 4:3.5.6-0ubuntu14.1)
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.21.3-personalizzato

I can connect to the internet via wired eth0 and get internet access and pop3 via Kmail. All the mail client configuration looks fine.

I have managed to get GPRS dialup to work with my nokia using KPPP. With GPRS connection I can surf the internet using firefox but, I cannot download mail using Kmail and I cannot surf internet using Konqueror.

Kmail does not give me an error. It checks the server and then reports no mail.

The network interface of KInfoCenter shows not only the ppp, but also the eth0 as connected (even if the cable is not connected).

KNetworkConf of the System Settings shows only the eth0 interface.

This problem looks like that posted in http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3084763.0

I have the same problem. When connected with eht0 KMail works fine. When I switch to GPRS over bluetooth ppp mode, I get a message "No new mail", but KMail never connects to the server itself...

This sounds a lot like a problem with KNetworkmanager, which sometimes fails to tell KMail that the network is indeed online.
