Description Oliver Grimm 2007-04-29 14:35:47 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

To reproduce do
- start KWord
- type in some text
- press CTRL-P to see the print dialog
- click widget "page range" and type "1"
- press "Keypad Enter" --> nothing happens
- press "normal Enter" --> the page is printed

The expected behaviour is that "keypad enter" works as well.

Your "keypad Enter" and "normal Enter" are 2 different keys, and they are obviously configured to behave differently too.

This is not a KDEPrint problem or bug.

"invalid"
Comment 3 Oliver Grimm 2007-05-06 10:28:56 UTC
Well, I know they are tow different keys. Nevertheless I am used to hit the keypad enter from dialogs in other operating systems and I think it makes perfectly sense. Maybe it becomes clear when I explain my workflow.

I often habe very long documents of which I only want to print a few pages. I then open the print dialog, click the "page range" widget with the mouse and use the keypad for entering "1-4"& enter. In this case, the keypad's enter key makes perfectly sense since it is so close to the other keys I used before.

Furthermore I can hardly think of a use case in which it would make sense to distinguish between "Normal Enter" and "Keypad Enter".

I understand that this issue is not the most important in the world. But in terms of usability it definitely IS an issue.

Pleas remove the INVALID tag.
Comment 4 Oliver Grimm 2007-06-15 08:36:19 UTC
I am reopening this bug since it definitely IS an issue from a user's point of view. I really don't see why the current situation is better than accepting ENTER and KEYPAD_ENTER. I understand that the two keys generate different keycodes. But for the user this shouldn't make a difference.

Please fix this bug.

KDEPrint is obsolete, unmaintained and will never be revived. Closing all open bugs.
