Description Peter Wiersig 2007-01-25 09:15:45 UTC
Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from:    Gentoo Packages
Compiler:          g++ (GCC) 4.1.1 (Gentoo 4.1.1-r1)
 CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon64 -O2 -pipe"
OS:                Linux

When starting katapult the monitor with the mouse cursor is chosen at startup time to display the katapult window.

How to Reproduce
Have a system with at least 2 monitors. Launch katapult. Press global shortcut to display the window. Move cursor to different monitor, pretend to work with this second monitor. Activate global shortcut.

Expected Behaviour
I'd like to use the monitor with the focused application window chosen at display time.

At least add the possibility to choose the screen on which the launcher will be displayed.

Peter - look at my bug report at #160099 . I think we can agree that having this configurable is the ideal situation. For as long as I've been using KDE with multiple monitors (about 3 years) new apps launch wherever the mouse is. This is predictable and easier (IMHO) to manage for the user (making a new window appear on a screen without any existing windows is somewhat challenging).

On the upside, for you, the *default behaviour has changed* (no thanks to anyone for this unwanted change) at around 3.5.8 or 3.5.9 - and now matches your preference, AFAICT.

Katapult was declared unmaintained by its own author. KRunner is KDE4 supersedes it.
