Description Sune Vuorela 2007-01-08 10:25:38 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

(originally reported as http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=358297 )

this is at least relevant when using APT:Debian.

if I enter kpackage with a fully upgraded system and does the following:
1) view a changelog of a installed package
2) go to special > APT:Debian > upgrade
3) wait until it figured out there is nothing to upgrade

after this operation, all changelogs of installed packages are shown as '- No change log -'

Restarting kpackage make the changelogs show again (until next upgrade)

I can confirm this bug on kde 3.5.9 from Debian testing/unstable.
The changelog disappear even you choose to uninstall/install a package and then enter the admin password (doesn't matter if you uninstall/install for real).
One more thing: if you start kpackage and push the windows close button before it finished to read the package lists, it suddenly crash!

Andrea.

KPackage was recently removed from KDE SC (since 4.4 beta2) as it was completely broken and unmaintained.

Most of the common GNU/Linux distributions offer their own tools to deal with packages, and KDE is working on an universal package manager replacement named "Shaman" (to superseed KPackageKit)

Closing the KPackage's bug reports as UNMAINTAINED.
