By default showfoto should load a RAW image and then apply some heuristic operation to brighten the displayed image to something sensible (I know this isn't always possible, e.g. when an image is intended to be largely dark or overexposed).

Perhaps some information can be added or retrieved from the raw conversion or exif info?

When I use "dcraw -w -c <file>| convert - <file>.jpg", I get a pretty good approximation of a viewable image, whereas the image shown in showfoto is severely underexposed (or seemingly).

I haven't seen this problem in a recent version (now using 0.9.3), so I'll close the bug

Not reproducible with digiKam 7.0.0-beta1.
