Bug 138378

Summary: showfoto opens file browser window to last the folder used upon startup. If folder is no longer there, this results in an error. If the folder is there, this still requires more steps if you want to open a folder of images instead of a specific image

Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

showfoto automatically uses a "File, Open" type browser window pointing to the to last folder used upon each startup.

If lsat folder used is no longer there, this results in an error.

Even if the folder is there (valid folder so no error), this "feature" requires you to take more steps to open a folder of images instead of a specific image (since you need to cancel from the automatic file open that it starts with to open a folder of images intead)

Since memory cards containing images are often used with this application, an error when folders are no longer there is a very frequent problem for photographers swapping memory cards in their readers (you get errors every time you open showfoto with a different card in your card reader, if you were opening an image from external media the last time you used it).

I do not see a mechanism in shofoto settings for disabling this behavior (automatically bringing up the file open browser window upon starting showfoto). So, this makes it very irritating when trying to use showfoto for quick browsing of images on memory cards.

Jim,

The auto-open folder dialog at startup have been removed. try to use last stable version of showfoto.
