It would be a nice feature, especially for languages like Scheme, to have the following feature:

Whenever the cursor is located between parentheses, brackets etc. this region has a different background color. This way you could easily see which function you are in, and if there is a parenthesis missing.

Essentially, this is very similar to bracket highlighting, but I think the whole REGION should be highlighted.
