Description Noumaan Yaqoob 2006-10-06 23:42:12 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

http://www.urduweb.org/mehfil/ uses a javascript to provide the ability to write in Urdu without changing keyboard layout. Using Konqueror I can not take advantage of this functionality and I must use my computers keyboard layout. A major disadvantage since we are working gnome translations on this website and KDE is next on our list:
http://l10n.urduweb.org/entrans/

We are heavily relying on this javascript on all our Urdu form feilds. The form is also used and can be seen directly in action at http://l10n.urduweb.org/dictionary/ where we are making a glossary to use in all open source translation projects as a reference. These are major issues for us because they would affect our translation and testing efforts directly.

OK, this doesn't work because you try to change the keyCode directly, eek.
It would be pretty easy to change the code to work in konqueror: if on konqueror, just cancel the original event, and issue a new TextEvent as a keypress with the desired string...

We should probably consider supporting the pattern you use, no matter how ugly it is...

Message from the Bugsquad and Konqueror teams:
This bug is closed as outdated, as we do not have the manpower to maintain the KDE3 version anymore.
If you still can reproduce this issue with Konqueror 4.8.4 or later, please open a new report.
Thank you for your understanding.
