This is probably a config problem or a packaging problem. You should ask on your distribution's support forums or file a bug with your distribution. If you choose to file a bug there, please add a link to it as a comment on this bug report I wrote to info@slackware.com. In any case, I had this trouble in the past too, and now not only in Slackware, but - as I wrote - in Debian Sid too... Maybe is the mobo bugged? After a lot of investigations and recompilations of kernel, finally I discovered the cause of this trouble. The origin of all is the module hda_intel, for my sound card. If it's disabled, the pc shuts down correctly. If loaded, the pc doesn't halt. I don't know if this is due to alsa modules or to KDE, but, in any case, I've no problems If I use other DE as Fluxbox or I work in console. So, IMHO, there must be something hurting in the relationship between the audio management in KDE and that module... Can u confirm? Thanx M. This could *maybe* be a problem with artsd, but to be honest I still doubt it. Try disabling arts with control center -> sound & mm -> sound system -> enable the sound system (turn it off). If that doesn't fix the problem, I think it must be a non-KDE problem Your idea was very good. Disabling the sound system in Control Center, the pc turn off correctly! Is this the proof of a bug in KDE? nope, it just means your kernel module is buggy indeed I use alsa-module too, not only kernel support for hda_intel. I mean that I tried for my sound card the direct support in the kernel and the alsa-driver. Referring to "my kernel module", You can easily understand that I have no personal module... :-) I wrote to alsa-devel and to Kernel Bug Tracker (bug no. 7195). In any case, Mr. Kulow, please consider - as I already told - that I have no problem if I use another DE or I use the console... Hoping that someone will be able to understand the very reason of that trouble... |
