Description Hans Meier 2006-09-10 18:56:55 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

Although there are no new mails on the IMAP server, KMail thinks that there are a number of new messages available (and shows the notifications) when I start the program. Once it has fetched the information from the server, it realizes that it was wrong and that there are no new mails on the server (so the boldface font of the inbox becomes normal). Sometimes, a mail (not new) is available twice in my inbox, once completely empty and a second time with the body. Next time I start up KMail, the problem with new messages described above occurs, this time the number of (imaginary) new messages is increased by one. Currently, I always get notified that there are 5 new messages in my inbox.

Maybe it's got something to do with messages being marked as deleted on the server - I do not get such false notifications when I clean up (compress) all folders. This bug could also be related to bug #135904, where the bodies of some mails are empty, because these problems seem to occur simultaneously.

Haven't experienced this problem for a long time with 3.5.7, so I guess this bug has been resolved.
