I got a similar problem but only when using scim: - If I open a new console with (with any default model) and try to change to a transparency model: the transparency is not working on the model I just selected. - If I open a new konsole with a transparent model as default, the transparency is working. - If I try to open a new shell tab, even if the default model had transparency, the new tab transparency doesn't work. - If I open a new konsole with transparent model (here, transparency is working), exit my kde session, and login again, the konsole previously open doesn't have transparency anymore. otherwise, I got the same symptom for the .schema file, with transparency enabled in the file I tried to launch a konsole without using scim (I removed the path to /usr/lib/qt3/plugins in .qt/qtrc so it wasn't loading libqscim.so) and launched a new konsole and transparency worked fine. Could you tell my if you are using scim, if not, I'll open a new bug. tested on kubuntu dapper scim 1.4.4-1ubuntu12 skim 1.4.4-0ubuntu7 konsole 3.5.3-0ubuntu0.2 and on mandriva cooker scim-1.4.4-9mdv2007.0 skim-1.4.5-1mdv2007.0 kdebase-konsole-3.5.4-2mdv2007.0 libkdebase4-konsole-3.5.4-2mdv2007.0 (the bug was also here with previous version of konsole and scim) Hi St maybe you can try to play with the .qt/qt_plugins_3.3rc, I saw that I have it on my ubuntu at work but not on my mandriva at home and this file got a reference to the libqscim.so lib I tested at work, and the only way I found to test that was to prevent program from reading this input plugin by: chmod 000 /usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods/libqscim.so and launch a konsole, I had lot of warning about the problem loading this lib but the transparency worked fine then I tried to comment and then remove the line : /usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods/libqscim.so from the .qt/qt_plugins_3.3rc and then i launch a new Konsole : no success, still no transparency. I just tried your last tip ( chmod 000 on the *scim*.so ) and no success here too.... : ( Still no transparency... Here the output when i launch konsole from konsole : X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 166 Major opcode: 144 Minor opcode: 3 Resource id: 0x0 Failed to open device X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 166 Major opcode: 144 Minor opcode: 3 Resource id: 0x0 Failed to open device kio (KSycoca): Trying to open ksycoca from /var/tmp/kdecache-rpelisse/ksycoca konsole: [QTextCodec* KCharsets::codecForName(const QString&, bool&) const] konsole: Trying to find PAR D??FAUT in /usr/share/i18n/charmaps kdeui (KRootPixmap): [/tmp/buildd/kdelibs-3.5.4/./kdeui/krootpixmap.cpp:271] activating background exports. /usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods/libqscim.so: cannot open shared object file: Permission denied /usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods/libqscim.so: cannot open shared object file: Permission denied (Note that i get the two X Error when i launch any applications, i left it just in case it could help you, but i don't think it's will turn out to be the root cause). On 7 Aug 2006 09:41:28 -0000, St Sounds like a different bug than mine, I'll open a new one Ok, thanks. On 7 Aug 2006 12:06:36 -0000, St I got a new computer and i install my kubuntu from scratch again. I still got the "transparency problem" but the "chmod trick" did work : chmod 000 /usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods/libqscim.so It definitly seems to be the same bug as you ,St This bug seems to be the same as Stephane's, the library scim seems to be the problem, so i close this bug. |
