Description Chris Wales 2006-07-29 17:26:09 UTC
Version: unknown (using KDE 3.5.3 Level "a" , unofficial build of SUSE )
Compiler:          Target: x86_64-suse-linux
OS:                Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.16.21-0.13-smp

When Kicker crashes, any GNOME apps that have icons in the system tray seem to then appear in their own separate windows once Kicker is restarted. This is rectifiable by closing the GNOME apps in question and restarting them, after which the icon appears in the system tray once more, but sometimes it is not possible to close apps immediately particularly if they contain work in progress or are mid-task.

This does happen to me /sometimes/ (KDE 3.5.6) - mainly with Amarok, Klipper and such. I've no GNOME apps to test with.

It happens here, too. But every time kicker restarts, not just when it crashes.

Steps to reproduce:

$ gaim
$ dcop kicker kicker restart
--> gaim systray icon will be in a tiny window instead of in the systray

I am using version 3.5.5 from Debian unstable (4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-6)

Changed severity to "crash". I hope to have selected only the right bugs (>100) :-)

Kicker is no more mantained and all bugs/wishes will not be fixed/implemented in KDE3. A list of the most interesting/unresolved issues which is still valid for KDE4 has been created. Before reopening old kicker bugs on KDE4 Plasma, please try the new KDE 4.3.1, check the current behaviour and, only if you find new bugs or if you need a particular feature, open a new bug report.

Remember that KDE 4 is a full rewrite of KDE 3 so some old features will not be re-implemented because the behaviour has be changed a lot on some sides.

Thanks for the comprehension and enjoy the new KDE 4!
