With a TwinView setup (nvidia driver, xinerama support compiled into QT and KDE) and Xinerama turned on in xorg.conf, you get two desktops next to each other. I configured one desktop to have a resolution of 1024x768 and the other uses 800x600. Both desktops use a separate wallpaper.

Strange things happen when I turn Xinerama off in xorg.conf: The wallpapers from both desktops are now drawn on top of each other on screen 1. First, the 1024x768 wallpaper is drawn, and the 800x600 wallpaper from screen 2 is drawn on top of it. There is no way to change that, because Xinerama is off and you can't configure the backgrounds of both desktops seperately anymore.

A workaround is to turn Xinerama back on, configure *one* wallpaper to stretch out across both screens, then turn Xinerama off again. This results in one wallpaper on screen 1. It looks stretched, but that's better than two wallpapers on top of each other.

Same Problem here. KDE 3.5.5 Kubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft. Disabling Wallpaper across all screens in dual head mode and enabling it back in single mode helps.

Bug closed. Kdesktop is no more mantained.
