This happens when backing and forthing through the text area with the cursor keys. It seems that in multiple lines of text, if a space is inserted to divide the " from subsequent words, the words sometimes jump to the next line, leaving a large gap to the right of the ". Is this in tended behaviour? If so it is inconsistent and has thus can been difficult to reproduce.

I think this was meant to be put in the khtml or Konqueror Product/component area, not akregator...
