When using the Jabber protocol buddies complain of receiving extra blank lines before and after my messages.  I'm using kopete 0.12-beta2 and my buddy is using Gaim on Windows.  Another buddy of mine who is using kopete 3.5.2 (version bundled with kde 3.5.2) does not experience this problem.

I've tried different fonts, font size, and chat styles but nothing seems to rectify the situation.

that's a problem in gaim.
The problem has been partly fixed already
