Description Shriramana Sharma 2006-02-24 14:29:32 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

Some tar gz files, for example:

http://www.libsdl.org/extras/win32/cross/mingw32-linux-x86-glibc-2.3.tar.gz

cannot be opened with Ark (2.61). I get an "unsupported file format" error. Same goes for data.tar.gz files extracted from Debian .deb packages using ar xv.

However, if I try a tar xvzf operation on these files, they expand out correctly.

I get this when i run it from a console:
KTar: WARNING: KTar: invalid TAR file. Header is: ??
Comment 2 Henrique Pinto 2006-04-01 23:02:15 UTC
Seems to be a problem in KTar...
Comment 3 Shriramana Sharma 2009-04-12 20:30:40 UTC
After KDE 4 I have not encountered this bug so closing it as WORKSFORME. If anyone has this problem, they can always reopen it. (Besides, the test case file is gone from the net.)
