Works for me. What does command 'locale' print? locale: LANG=de_DE@euro LC_CTYPE="de_DE@euro" LC_NUMERIC="de_DE@euro" LC_TIME="de_DE@euro" LC_COLLATE=C LC_MONETARY="de_DE@euro" LC_MESSAGES="de_DE@euro" LC_PAPER="de_DE@euro" LC_NAME="de_DE@euro" LC_ADDRESS="de_DE@euro" LC_TELEPHONE="de_DE@euro" LC_MEASUREMENT="de_DE@euro" LC_IDENTIFICATION="de_DE@euro" LC_ALL= Works fine here. Please change this from wishlist to BUG, I have found the cause, 100% reproducable on every KDE, computer, user I have tested it with: It is not possible to enter german umlauts in the konq address bar anymore as soon as you configure own shortcuts for konqueror like e.g. Ctrl-Backspace as I always do. When I erase the section [Shortcuts] in ~/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals I can enter umlauts. Do I define own shortcuts I cannot enter umlauts in the konq addressbar. [Shortcuts] Back=Alt+Left;Ctrl+Backspace DeleteWordBack=none The workaround is not to define own shortcuts for konqueror - but that is no solution because I need a one-hand directory- oder website-back navigation keyboard shortcut. Confirmed That's a really nasty one - just stumbled into the same trap using KDE 3.5.5. Hmm... how can I reproduce this bug ? When I define a shortcut for the "Back" Action, it is not written into kdeglobals but into ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/konqueror.rc And the Umlauts work in the addressbar (KDE 3.5.5 head) It still is reproducable with KDE 3.5.5 - it just depends on where you define the shortcuts. When I define shortcuts via kcontrol they are written into ~/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals and prevents umlauts from being typed into konqueror's address bar. But when I define konqueror-only shortcuts through konqueror settings it is written into ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/konqueror.rc and I can type umlauts. Thanks for the hint. So I can use own shortcuts for konqueror only but I mustn't define them with kcontrol. But as soon as I define some whatsoever shortcut in kcontrol and thus create a [Shortcuts] section in kdeglobals konqueror doesn't accept umlauts anymore. So this alas is not solved. That's interesting. I really admire that you found the cause Janet because it really has nothing to do with the effect. All I have to do is *not* using the KDE Control Center to change shortcuts to prevent kdeglobals from getting a Shortcuts section to keep konqueror's addressbar cabable of german umlauts? But I think that is just the way most of the users will create own shortcuts - through kcontrol - which means all german users who use kcontrol to define shortcuts aren't able to enter umlauts in konqueror's addressbar. I really would like to know if it also affects other languages. BTW, this problem still exists in KDE 3.5.9, I once again accidently defined some application internal shortcuts through the appropriate kcontrol section, thus produced a [Shortcuts]-section in kdeglobals - and once again it was not possible to enter umlauts like äöü in konqueror's addressbar. How can the text "[Shortcuts]" in kdeglobals prevent some keys to be accepted in konqueror's addressbar? KDE4 still uses kdeglobals to store shortcuts but it seems to be ok in KDE4. Though there is a [Shortcuts] section in kdeglobals my konqueror is still able to accept umlauts. As it doesn't seem to be a problem with KDE4 anymore I close this as WORKSFORME. |
