K3b calculates the MD5 sum automatically before burning an ISO image. It is great that K3b can calculate the MD5 sum, but I think there should be a button to start the calculation, instead of starting it automatically. At least there should be a way to configure this behavior. This has two reasons. First, a user might think that the calculation is necessary to start the burning process, thus waiting minutes (in case of a DVD image) before he starts the burning. Even he might think (not knowing what a MD5 sum is): "what a crappy program, taking so long before I can start to burn the ISO image". I know that it is possible to start the burning before the MD5 sum is calculated, but a user might not know. Second, a user might not want to start the burning of the ISO, but do some other thing, before starting the burning process. K3b consumes now nearly 100% CPU to calculate the MD5 sum, thus slowing down the computer. And there is no way to stop K3b from calculating, without starting the burning or closing the dialog.

I think that most users do no use the MD5 sum that is calculated. So there should be a button that a user can click in order to calculate the MD5 sum. Perhaps there can be a configurable option to automatically start the calculation, however, this should not be default.

I agree on we should have an option to calculate md5. maybe a button to press if we want it.

I would opt even for more -- option to get the md5sum from a file (or edit-box).

Reason: I download iso from net with m5sum to check if everything is ok. So I checked the iso. Then k3b calculates the md5 :-) For dvd iso is a killer -- I have to wait really long to get the job done twice while I asked only for one.

OK, with a not shows the button option.
