Description Dan 2005-11-14 12:39:42 UTC
Version: Kmail 1.8.3 (Using KDE 3.4.3-1.0.fc4.kde) (using KDE KDE 3.4.3)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux

When clicking on "Check what the server supports" for a POP account, kmail reports "Clear text" and "APOP" as supported authentication mechanisms, even though Ethereal shows that the server doesn't reply to the CAPA request (actually, replies with an authentication-needed error message).

If I select APOP from the available list, kmail subsequently can't authenticate, stating that "the server may not support APOP, even though it claims to support it".

I get same with 1.9.1.

"Check What Server Supports" gives me just "PLAIN" highlighted.

Then connecting to server I get a "Server does nor Support PLAIN method" dialog.

Is this still a problem in KDE 4.3?

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
